The Australian Academy for Performing Artists (AAPA) offers a range of full time courses for emerging artists who are interested in discovering their potential and developing their skills as a performer.

Formerly known as BAMT, the Academy operates out of the state-of-the-art facilities at the Hayward Street Theatre complex in Brisbane, students will work alongside some of Australia’s best musical theatre professionals as well as guest artists and teachers from around the world.

AAPA's full time courses allow students to explore the integral skills required for success in the entertainment industry, to understand professional ethics and to prepare themselves for the rigorous physical and emotional demands of a career in the arts. It's intensive training and networking with some of the best and most prominent people in the business and a year of fantastic theatre experiences that broadens all knowledge and understanding of the entertainment industry.

AAPA provides students with a strong grounding in acting technique, voice and dance, as well as training in screen acting, musical theatre, audition technique and the history of theatre. Our training is practical, flexible and personalized, unencumbered by copious amounts of book work, exams or assignments and focussed on experience based learning.

Past students have found their time at AAPA to be the perfect preparation for further studies at NIDA, WAAPA, QCGU or VCA, while others have used the training as a springboard into professional work straight away upon graduation, both with employment locally and right across the globe.

AAPA is committed to offering high quality training to emerging artists and providing learning experiences for emerging performers as a way of nurturing the stars of tomorrow.
